Our Community
Baluchis have been around in East Africa for quite a while now but even after the dust had settled following many battles with the Portuguese colonialists, an “official” community was not established until the 24th of January 1963. This was when the Mombasa Baluch community was first registered.
The objective was to work for the general uplift of its members, socially and economically in various spheres of their lives, and also to safeguard and further religious, educational, literary, cultural, scientific and charitable interests of the community. Therefore, the community intended to build mosques, educational institutions and other amenities for its members. The community planned to purchase and manage property or land and to exercise rights over land in pursuit of their objectives for the community.
Due to various reasons, the community never made any significant progress until after 1982. The community had its fair share of challenges which were eventually overcome. The strong will of the leaders was reflected in their achievements. The desire for growth and expansion is now the dominant objective. Given its social and welfare foundation, intercommunity interaction is encouraged for the benefit of humanity.

Community Welfare
The Baluchi Community organizes income- generating projects of which the proceeds go towards looking after the Welfare of the needy. Health care of the sick and distribution of food during the Holy month of Ramadhan or even during pandemics like COVID 19 are some of the welfare projects undertaken.
Religious Commitment
The Baluchi Community has not forgotten its religious commitments. It takes care of two mosques namely, Baluchi Mosque and Mbaruk Mosque. Money collected from income generating projects go towards payment of Imams and caretakers of the two mosques as well as for maintenance and for payment of utilities.
The Baluchi Community also has its own Kabristan (Cemetery) at Kikowani near Seif Halwa Shop. Proceeds from revenue generating activities are utilized for the upkeep and maintenance of the Kabristan.
